Pilates Based Rehab

“Pilates is gaining the mastery of your mind over the complete control over your body.” Joseph Pilates

Pilates, also known as Contrology, is a mind-body method that focuses on strength, core stability, flexibility, posture and breathing with an emphasis on motor control. The integrative holistic philosophy behind Pilates is fundamental to the MONARCH METHOD, and is at the core of MONARCHWELLNESS’s approach to achieving lasting health and wellness as a natural way of life.

Joseph Pilates created a fusion of yoga, bodybuilding, gymnastics and a keen observation of animal movement to overcome his own battle with asthma, rickets and rheumantic fever in the 1920s – an approach to whole-body health that was 50 years ahead of his time. His regimen for rehabilitation became a life-long process of physical refinement, and is now acknowledged as a set of concepts, not just exercises. This Pilates-based approach to pain and post-operative recovery is the transitive path to a lifetime of Whole Body Health and Wellness.

A Pilates-based regimen provides:

  • Mental and physical discipline and enhanced capacity for movement
  • Techniques to improve breathing patterns
  • Coordination of body, mind and spirit
  • Alignment of the extremities
  • Spine mobility and stability
  • Enhanced movement integration and motor control

“Change happens through movement and movement heals.” Joseph Pilates
